India’s top 6 unaddressed issues

Currently India is facing a lot of problems, a lot of social instability on the highlighted topics like Poverty, Overpopulation, Gender equality, Increase violence on women and pollution. If we Google, then these are the major problem we get. But the question rises these are the only problem? Well the answer is NO there are other issues in India as well that need to address. Like child labour which further created unemployment among youth, nasty conditions of traffic on road which lead to various type of accident. So there are several other problems but our media is not focusing on them as much. I guess it will not give them much TRP as these topics will give.
What are the other Indian issues?
There are 6 challenges that India need to fix soon:
1. Education- India ranked 103th of 130 countries in world Economic Forum Index 2017, currently India has 487 million workers. But more than two- thirds of Indian employers report that they struggle to find work with the right skills. I already wrote about the every problem of our education system right from the beginning to till today, also about the factor which leads to it and how can we resolve this problem easily by making few changes. So If you want to read you can go and click on that link given-https://mannkibaatsabkesath.blogspot.com/2020/07/the-system-of-education-in-india.html
2. Urbanization- Yet another main issue. More than one-third of Indian lives in cities. It is estimated that, by 2050, as many as 900 million people will be living in urban centers. Now irrespective of the advantages of it, there is ill effect of urbanization as well like by living in urban areas more will create paucity of resources which increases the demand of things and not everyone can afford it. So most of people live in poor condition like in slums now there are a lot of people are lacking these resources so indirectly people start thieving things from other in order to make their need fulfill, I am not justifying crimes but urbanization can be a cause of increasing crimes, increase pollution. And most important it will affect the agriculture sector of our country, which will further worsen the hunger index of our country. It also lead to industrialization which produce so many pollution, NCR is live example of it. Urbanization increases the crime rate.
3. Health- India faces the double burden of Infection diseases and a dramatic rise in non-communicable diseases, now estimated to account for more than half of all deaths. Due to overpopulation and poor infrastructure make the situation very bad. For more information you can read my different blogs on healthcare. https://mannkibaatsabkesath.blogspot.com/2020/06/disabled-healthcare-system-in-india.html
4. Sanitation- Many health challenges are linked to Sanitation. Though the current government launched Clean India Campaign, the challenge is still to implement the right way to provide 1.2 billion Indians with a clean environment. We can imagine the real picture by thinking that we a need a movie to tell us the importance of toilet. Because according to most of us not having a toilet is not a problem as well. In most of the part of our country women go in open field for defecation. According to a study conducted by the institute of Labour Economics from 2014-2018 founds that in the state of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan the number of people defecating in the open declined from 70% to 40-45% percent by the end of 2018 nearly 6 in 10 households owned a toilet. According to the Sangita Vyas( research Institute for compassionate economics) “ Latrine ownership increased from about 35 percent to about 70 percent. That did accelerate the reduction of open defection, but in December 2018 we estimated about half of the people in the states of Bihar, M.P., U.P., and Rajasthan still defecate in the open”

5. Water scarcity – the World Bank estimates that 21% of communicable diseases in India are related to unsafe water. Water scarcity is expected to increase to 1.6 billion by year 2050. There are several large cities of India have experienced water shortage in recent years, with Chennai being the most prominent in 2019. The shortage of water affected the entire city of 9million people and restaurants and businesses. According to a report by the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), at least 21 major Indian cities, including the capital New Delhi will completely run out of groundwater by 2020. The report also noted that approximately 2 lacs people die in India each year due to the lack of access to safe drinking water. And the important fact to notice that India’s 70% of water is polluted. In fact INDIA hold the 3rd position in the list of 122 nation. I live in NCR, Gurgaon this is so called millenmium city that has offices of all big MNCs, where people live in a very high lifestyle. But in 2013 Central Groundwater Board listed as a dark zone. Here, the rate at which groundwater is being pumped using bore wells at that rate by 2040, the groundwater in Gurgaon will be finished. According to world bank India take out the most groundwater in the world. We take out 25% of it every year.

6. Transparency- India is home to 23% of the world’s population, but sees only 2% of global trade. The vast majority of Indians say transparency is their number one concern, with figures peaking at over 90% among young voters. India has about 2092 public authorities and all of them have websites. But very few are actually transparent and upload every information for public. In India if we talk about transparency we have to keep in mind about RTI. The RTI act has probably been the most empowering and successful act of the country in recent times. Firstly we need to understand how does RTI system work? Under RTI act there is information commission, one at the state level and another at the central level. Information commissioners sit under this. Their main job whenever you file an RTI in any public office for any information and you don’t get a response to your RTI, in such cases you can approach these RTI officers and complain about the non responsiveness to your RTI. So, they have the authority to go to those public departments and instruct them to issue information. They can help in various other issues. For example, if you are being overcharged for an RTI or your RTI is not being responded to in a proper manner. The section 13 of the RTI act decides the salary and tenure of these information commissioners.  Now earlier the salary and tenure of these information commissioners was fixed so that they can work independently without any pressure. But after the recent amendment, it would be said that their salaries, allowances and tenure will be as prescribed by the central government. And the second change is in the section 16 which also said that salaries, allowances and tenure of the state commissioners are also decided by the central government.
Solution
So these are the issues or problem but why we are not solving it. The answer is simple most of us are not facing the problem right now. These are not as popular as other problem in India or lift up by the media and politician in the assembly. So what we can do? We can individually solve many problems like:
For health and education I already explained how we can resolve them so you can study them by clicking on the link given above.

Water scarcity is major issue need to be solved soon. If we not do anything will all face the problem like people are facing in Chennai. We need to learn how to minimize the wastage of water by changing few habits in our daily lifestyle. Like stop washing car by water pipe, close the tap while shaving and brushing. These all we can learn from Google. Most important thing to reserve the rain water, we can simply do it installing rain water harvesting in our home, offices, society, in our villages by creating artificial ponds, wells. This will not only help in meeting the need of water but it also help in replenishing the ground water level. Our government can help people in installing and can also create awareness about the current situation.
Transparency is a major issue. India is the largest democratic country in the world and these things make it easy for people to live and speak for their right. But the recent amendment reduces the independence of the information commissioner which further weaken the strength of RTI act. Anna Hazare said this amendment will push the democracy towards dictatorship. RTI was the most successful act of all time with the help of this act we came to about the 2G scam and other corruption under UPA government which in future become the reason of their fall. So we need to pressurize the government to undo this act.
Urbanization is becoming another big issue. Our country is developing but on the stake of what. We are making skyrocketing building on the green zone, we are making metros by cutting trees and forest. People from villages start to move in cities which reduces the agriculture in India. More people in a city more unemployment because jobs and other resources are limited. Our government need to make sustainable development to ensure the proper protection of our environment and every will take advantage from it.
